Harmsco HC-90-AC-5 Technical Details
| Model Number | HC-90-AC-5 |
| Filtration Rating | 5 Micron |
| Filter Media | Meltblown Polypropylene with Activated Carbon |
| Maximum Pressure | 50 PSI |
| Temperature Range | 40°F - 140°F (4°C - 60°C) |
| pH Compatibility | 3 to 11 |
| Cartridge Type | Harmsco Hurricane Proprietary |
| Reusability | Cleanable and Reusable |
Installing Your Hurricane 90 Cartridge
- Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure by opening a downstream faucet before removing the Hurricane filter housing lid
- Remove the old cartridge and inspect the housing o-ring for wear or damage, then clean the housing interior with warm water
- Insert the HC-90-AC-5 cartridge into the Hurricane housing, ensuring proper seating at the base, then hand-tighten the lid until snug
- Slowly turn on water supply and check for leaks at the housing seal, then flush the new cartridge for 3-5 minutes to remove carbon fines
- Monitor differential pressure or flow rate to determine replacement interval, cleaning the cartridge as needed to extend service life
System Requirements
The HC-90-AC-5 is designed exclusively for Harmsco Hurricane 90 series filter housings and is not interchangeable with standard cartridge sizes. This cartridge works in whole-house sediment filtration systems, well water applications, and as pre-filtration for reverse osmosis systems where chlorine removal and particulate reduction are required. The activated carbon component addresses taste, odor, and chlorine while the 5 micron meltblown structure captures sediment, rust, and suspended solids. Compatible with municipal and well water sources within the specified pH and temperature ranges.
