System Setup and Operation
- Mount unit vertically on a wall or floor stand using the bracket points on the housing, ensuring adequate clearance for cartridge changes (minimum 24" below unit).
- Connect 1.5" FNPT inlet and outlet lines with Teflon tape or thread sealant, positioning the sediment filter housing before the UV chamber in the flow path.
- Install the 5 micron sediment cartridge into the Big Blue housing, then insert the UV lamp and quartz sleeve (size #20) into the chamber according to manufacturer torque specifications.
- Purge air from the system by running water with the UV lamp off for 2-3 minutes, then power on the UV ballast and verify lamp operation through the viewing port.
- Replace the sediment cartridge every 3-6 months depending on water quality, and replace the UV lamp annually or per manufacturer schedule regardless of visible operation.
