Setting Up Your HD4500 Housing
- Install the housing vertically on a wall or bracket using the mounting bracket holes, ensuring inlet is at the top and outlet at the bottom for proper flow direction.
- Apply thread sealant tape to 3/4" NPT ports and connect to your water line, torquing connections to manufacturer specifications without over-tightening.
- Insert your chosen 2.5" x 10" filter cartridge into the sump, lubricate the o-rings with food-grade silicone, and hand-tighten the cap using the buttress threads until snug.
- Open the pressure relief valve, slowly pressurize the system, then close the valve once water flows steadily and all air is purged from the housing.
Filter Cartridge Options
The Watts HD4500 accepts all standard 2.5" diameter x 10" length filter cartridges from brands including Kemflo, Pentek, Hydronix, and Culligan. Pair with sediment cartridges (1-50 micron) for well water pre-filtration, carbon block filters for chlorine and taste reduction, or specialty media cartridges for iron, sulfur, or chemical removal. The full-flow design and 3/4" NPT ports support flow rates up to 10 GPM depending on cartridge selection, making this housing suitable for whole-house point-of-entry applications or high-demand point-of-use installations.
