Aries AF-10-4020-BB Ultra Purity Mixed Bed DI Filter
The Aries AF-10-4020-BB combines nuclear-grade cation and anion exchange resins in a single 10"x4.5" cartridge to remove dissolved minerals and ions down to near-zero TDS levels. Its low-odor formulation eliminates the typical resin smell common in standard DI filters, making it suitable for spot-free rinsing, laboratory prep, pharmaceutical applications, and aquarium use where ultra-pure water is required.
Mixed Bed Deionization Process
Positive Ion Exchange
Cation resin beads attract and remove positively charged ions including calcium, magnesium, sodium, and heavy metals from the water stream.
Negative Ion Exchange
Anion resin beads capture negatively charged ions such as chloride, sulfate, nitrate, and silica for comprehensive dissolved solids removal.
Ultra-Pure Output
The intimately mixed resin bed delivers consistent ion exchange throughout the cartridge for stable, ultra-low TDS water with less than 1 ppm total dissolved solids.
Service life varies by inlet TDS and flow rateHousing Requirements
The AF-10-4020-BB fits all standard 10-inch Big Blue filter housings with 4.5-inch diameter capacity, including models from Pentek, Hydronix, Culligan, and Watts. Install as a final polishing stage after sediment and carbon filtration to maximize resin bed life. Mixed bed DI cartridges are not regenerable and must be replaced when TDS levels begin to rise. Monitor effluent water quality with a TDS meter for optimal replacement timing. Pre-filtration with 5-micron sediment and activated carbon is strongly recommended to protect the resin bed from fouling and extend service life.
