INSTALLATION & USE

Installing Your Clack Mineral Tank

  1. Position tank on level surface with adequate clearance for control valve and plumbing connections. Ensure floor can support combined weight of tank, resin media, and water during operation.
  2. Fill tank with appropriate softening resin to manufacturer's recommended volume, typically 60-70% of total tank capacity. Use funnel to prevent media spillage.
  3. Install distributor tube assembly with proper basket and upper screen, ensuring tube reaches within 3-4 inches of tank bottom for optimal backwash distribution.
  4. Thread control valve onto tank opening using Teflon tape or pipe dope on male threads. Torque to manufacturer specifications to create watertight seal without cracking composite material.
  5. Connect inlet and outlet plumbing, then slowly pressurize system while checking all connections for leaks before placing unit into service.
COMPATIBILITY

System Compatibility

This Clack FRP mineral tank accepts all standard water softener control valves with compatible thread sizes, including Clack WS1, WS2, Fleck 5600, Fleck 7000, and Autotrol valve systems. Compatible with cation exchange resin media for residential and commercial softening applications. The fiberglass composite construction makes this tank ideal for installations where steel tanks would face premature corrosion from humid environments, coastal air, or aggressive water chemistry.

🔧 Pro tip: Before filling with resin media, place a piece of tape over the distributor tube top to prevent media from entering the tube during filling. Remove tape after media is loaded but before installing the control valve.
