Hanna (HI1001) pH Electrodes for Continuous Flow-thru Monitoring

The Hanna HI1001 pH electrode is engineered for continuous flow-through monitoring in demanding industrial environments where reliability and accuracy matter. With double-junction PTFE technology, a PVDF body rated to 6 bar, and a ½" NPT thread for direct in-line installation, this electrode handles aggressive chemicals, heavy metals, and organic compounds without clogging or frequent maintenance.
SPECIFICATIONS

Hanna HI1001 Technical Details

Model Number Hanna HI1001
Junction Type Double-junction PTFE (non-clogging annular design)
Body Material PVDF with PEI protective sleeve
Connection ½" NPT external thread, BNC connector
Cable Length 3 meters (9.8 feet)
Temperature Range -5 to 80°C (23 to 176°F)
Max Pressure 6 bar (87 psi)
Electrolyte Polymer (no refilling required)
INSTALLATION & USE

Installing the HI1001 Electrode

  1. Thread the electrode into your flow-through monitoring system using the ½" NPT external fitting, ensuring proper seal with thread tape or paste rated for your process fluid.
  2. Connect the BNC connector to your compatible Hanna pH/ORP meter or controller, confirming the cable routing avoids pinch points or sharp edges.
  3. Flush the system to remove air pockets and allow the electrode to equilibrate for 10-15 minutes before calibration.
  4. Calibrate using standard buffer solutions appropriate to your expected measurement range, following your instrument's procedure.
  5. Monitor electrode response time and junction condition periodically; clean the PTFE junction with mild detergent or process-appropriate solvent if response slows.
COMPATIBILITY

Works With

The HI1001 pH electrode connects to any pH or ORP meter with a standard BNC input, including all Hanna HI1000 and HI2000 series instruments. The ½" NPT thread fits standard industrial piping and flow-through cells used in water treatment, chemical processing, aquaculture, and food and beverage applications. The double-junction polymer electrolyte design makes it especially suited for samples containing organic compounds, proteins, heavy metals, sulfides, and other contaminants that quickly foul standard single-junction electrodes.

🔧 Pro tip: In high-fouling applications, install the electrode in a vertical orientation with flow from bottom to top. This keeps the PTFE junction swept clean and prevents particulate settlement that can slow response time even with non-clogging designs.
