Cartridge Replacement Process
- Shut off water supply and relieve pressure from the Big Blue housing by opening a downstream faucet or using the pressure release button if equipped.
- Unscrew the housing sump using a filter wrench, remove the old cartridge, and clean the sump and O-ring with water (replace O-ring if worn or cracked).
- Insert the new IPW softening cartridge into the housing, ensuring it seats properly on the center standpipe.
- Reinstall the sump hand-tight plus a quarter turn with the wrench, then slowly turn water back on and check for leaks.
- Flush the cartridge for 3-5 minutes to remove any loose resin fines before returning to normal use.
