IPW Industries Inc (002-55) 4x8 Mesh Coconut Carbon GAC 1 Cubic Foot Bag
Core Product Details
Operating Parameters & Contaminant Removal
| Service Flow Rate | 2-6 gpm per cubic foot (taste, odor, chlorine removal) |
| Freeboard Requirement | 20% minimum for proper backwash expansion |
| Optimal pH Range | 6.5-7.5 for standard applications |
| Primary Contaminants Removed | Chlorine, chloramines, organic chemicals, THMs, TCE, EDB, pesticides, chemical odors, detergents, fertilizers |
| Carbon Type | Granular activated carbon (GAC), coconut shell based, steam activated |
| Equivalent Product | Comparable to Jacobi A9231-J Aquasor coconut carbon |
| Special Applications | Chloramine and TDS removal requires lower flow rates and longer empty bed contact time |
Where to Use This Media
The IPW Industries 002-55 coconut shell GAC is designed for use in residential whole-house systems, commercial water treatment tanks, and point-of-entry filtration applications where chlorine removal, taste and odor correction, and organic contaminant reduction are required. This 4x8 mesh size is ideal for standard upflow or downflow carbon tanks with appropriate freeboard for backwashing. Use in municipal water applications for dechlorination, THM reduction, and general taste improvement. For chloramine removal or high TDS water, reduce service flow rates below 2 gpm per cubic foot and consider extending empty bed contact time beyond standard parameters. Compatible with standard FRP tanks, stainless steel vessels, and commercial water softener-style installations when configured as a carbon filter bed.
