How to Install the John Guest Stem Adapter
- Insert the stem end fully into the quick connect fitting until it seats and locks into the collet mechanism.
- Apply thread sealant tape to the NPT threaded end, then hand-tighten onto the corresponding threaded port or appliance.
- Use a wrench to complete the NPT connection with 1.5 to 2 additional turns beyond hand-tight to ensure a proper seal.
- To disconnect the quick connect side, push the collet toward the fitting body while pulling the pipe to release the grip.
NPT Sizing & Applications
National Pipe Thread sizing does not correspond to ruler measurements. A 1/4" NPT fitting measures approximately 0.540" in actual diameter, 3/8" NPT measures 0.675", and 1/2" NPT measures 0.840". This John Guest acetal stem adapter works with John Guest quick connect fittings on one end and standard NPT threaded connections on the other, making it ideal for connecting reverse osmosis systems, under-sink filters, refrigerator lines, ice makers, and beverage equipment. The acetal construction offers greater heat resistance and strength compared to polypropylene alternatives, suitable for both cold and warm water applications up to the material's rated temperature limits.
