Cartridge Replacement Procedure
- Shut off water supply and relieve pressure by opening a downstream faucet or using the housing pressure relief button if available
- Unscrew the Big Blue sump using a filter wrench, remove the old NCP-BB cartridge, and clean the housing interior and o-ring groove
- Inspect and lubricate the o-ring with food-grade silicone grease, insert the new Pentek NCP-BB cartridge, and hand-tighten the sump until snug
- Turn water supply back on slowly, check for leaks, and run water for 3-5 minutes to flush carbon fines and activate the filter media
Housing & Application Fit
The Pentek NCP-BB fits all standard 10-inch Big Blue filter housings with 4.5-inch inner diameter, including Pentek, Culligan, GE, and Omnifilter brands. The non-cellulose construction resists bacterial growth, making it suitable for both chlorinated municipal water and non-chlorinated well water systems. This cartridge excels as a whole-house polishing filter, post-reverse osmosis carbon stage, or standalone treatment for chlorine taste and odor in closed-loop applications where sediment and organics need simultaneous removal.
