INSTALLATION & USE

Filter Replacement Process

  1. Shut off water supply and relieve pressure from the Big Blue housing by opening a downstream faucet
  2. Unscrew the filter housing using a filter wrench, remove the old cartridge, and clean the housing sump with mild soap and water
  3. Inspect and lubricate the o-ring, insert the new PureT SC Series cartridge, and hand-tighten the housing firmly
  4. Turn water supply back on slowly and check for leaks around the housing cap
  5. Run water for 2-3 minutes to flush the new filter and purge any trapped air
COMPATIBILITY

Applications & Chemical Resistance

The PureT SC Series is compatible with all standard 10" x 4.5" Big Blue filter housings and excels in demanding applications including potable water, well water sediment removal, pre-membrane filtration, and chemical processing. The polypropylene construction resists mineral acids, organic solvents, caustic soda, plating solutions, ethyl alcohol, petroleum oils, oxidizing agents, alkalis, demineralized water systems, and photographic solutions. Suitable for whole-house filtration, commercial operations, and industrial environments requiring high chemical compatibility and low media migration.

🔧 Pro Tip: String wound filters load from the outside in, so pressure drop increases gradually as sediment accumulates. Monitor your pressure gauge and replace the cartridge when you notice a 10-15 PSI drop from baseline, even if you haven't hit the 6-month mark—premature replacement beats a ruptured filter.
