SMC (2680090) 850 Series Brass Check Valve ; 1/2" FNPT x 1/2" FNPT BUNA

The SMC 2680090 850 Series Brass Check Valve provides reliable one-way flow control in residential and light commercial water filtration systems. Built with a brass body and BUNA-N seals, this 1/2" FNPT valve prevents backflow and protects upstream components from pressure surges.
SPECIFICATIONS

SMC 850 Series Check Valve Technical Details

Model Number SMC 2680090
Series 850 Series Brass Check Valve
Connection Type 1/2" FNPT x 1/2" FNPT (Female NPT both ends)
Body Material Brass
Seal Material BUNA-N (Nitrile Rubber)
Flow Direction One-way, prevents backflow
Temperature Range 33°F to 180°F (BUNA-N rated)
Typical Applications RO systems, booster pumps, water filtration equipment
INSTALLATION & USE

Installing the SMC 2680090 Check Valve

  1. Wrap 1/2" male NPT threads with 3-4 wraps of PTFE tape in a clockwise direction when viewing the threads head-on.
  2. Thread the check valve into the upstream fitting hand-tight, then use a wrench to tighten an additional 1.5 to 2 turns. Do not overtighten brass fittings.
  3. Confirm flow direction by locating the directional arrow on the valve body. Flow must enter from the inlet side to function properly.
  4. Connect the downstream 1/2" male NPT fitting using the same thread seal method, ensuring secure connections without cross-threading.
  5. Pressurize the system slowly and inspect both connections for leaks. Tighten if necessary, but avoid excessive torque on brass components.
COMPATIBILITY

System Compatibility

The SMC 2680090 check valve is compatible with reverse osmosis systems, water filtration equipment, booster pumps, and plumbing applications requiring 1/2" FNPT connections. The BUNA-N seal material is suitable for potable water, standard municipal water supplies, and filtered water lines. Brass construction provides corrosion resistance in typical residential and light commercial water treatment environments. This valve works with any equipment using 1/2" male NPT threaded connections and requiring backflow prevention or one-way flow control.

🔧 Pro Tip: Install the check valve after your booster pump or pressure tank to prevent backflow when the pump cycles off. The arrow on the valve body must point in the direction of flow, or the valve will block water entirely.
The SMC 2680090 850 Series Brass Check Valve provides reliable one-way flow control in residential and light commercial water filtration systems. Built with a brass body and BUNA-N seals, this 1/2" FNPT valve prevents backflow and protects upstream components from pressure surges.
