SMC (2680090) 850 Series Brass Check Valve ; 1/2" FNPT x 1/2" FNPT BUNA
SMC 850 Series Check Valve Technical Details
| Model Number | SMC 2680090 |
| Series | 850 Series Brass Check Valve |
| Connection Type | 1/2" FNPT x 1/2" FNPT (Female NPT both ends) |
| Body Material | Brass |
| Seal Material | BUNA-N (Nitrile Rubber) |
| Flow Direction | One-way, prevents backflow |
| Temperature Range | 33°F to 180°F (BUNA-N rated) |
| Typical Applications | RO systems, booster pumps, water filtration equipment |
Installing the SMC 2680090 Check Valve
- Wrap 1/2" male NPT threads with 3-4 wraps of PTFE tape in a clockwise direction when viewing the threads head-on.
- Thread the check valve into the upstream fitting hand-tight, then use a wrench to tighten an additional 1.5 to 2 turns. Do not overtighten brass fittings.
- Confirm flow direction by locating the directional arrow on the valve body. Flow must enter from the inlet side to function properly.
- Connect the downstream 1/2" male NPT fitting using the same thread seal method, ensuring secure connections without cross-threading.
- Pressurize the system slowly and inspect both connections for leaks. Tighten if necessary, but avoid excessive torque on brass components.
System Compatibility
The SMC 2680090 check valve is compatible with reverse osmosis systems, water filtration equipment, booster pumps, and plumbing applications requiring 1/2" FNPT connections. The BUNA-N seal material is suitable for potable water, standard municipal water supplies, and filtered water lines. Brass construction provides corrosion resistance in typical residential and light commercial water treatment environments. This valve works with any equipment using 1/2" male NPT threaded connections and requiring backflow prevention or one-way flow control.
