Installing Your SmartStream UV System

  1. Select the appropriate model based on your flow rate requirements: WA002ABAX (2 GPM), WA008ADAX (8 GPM), or WA012AEAX (12 GPM)
  2. Mount the reactor chamber horizontally with NPT threaded connections in the water line at point-of-entry or point-of-use location, ensuring adequate clearance for lamp replacement
  3. Connect the A-series controller to the reactor chamber and plug into a dedicated 110V outlet
  4. Verify LED system status indicator shows proper operation and test the lamp-out audible alarm function
  5. Allow water to flow through the system and monitor for proper UV lamp operation through the controller display
COMPATIBILITY

Application Requirements

The Watts SmartStream UV system is designed for residential and light commercial applications requiring microbiological disinfection. Ideal for well water systems, private water supplies, or any source water vulnerable to bacterial or viral contamination. UV disinfection is a physical process that requires pre-filtration to remove sediment and turbidity for optimal UV light transmission. Works best with water that has already been filtered for particulates and has relatively low mineral content. Not for use on water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection monitoring.

🔧 Pro tip: UV lamps lose intensity over time even when still illuminated. Replace the UV lamp annually regardless of visible operation to maintain the 99.99999% disinfection rate. Install a 5-micron sediment pre-filter upstream to prevent fouling of the quartz sleeve and ensure maximum UV transmission through the water.
