Gentech (MB-1USTD) Mixed bed Ion Exchange Resin (1 Cubic Foot CF)
Gentech MB-1USTD Mixed Bed Ion Exchange Resin
The MB-1USTD is a precision-blended mixed bed resin combining 8% cross-linked strong acid cation beads (dark black, porous gel) with Type I strong base anion beads (white gel) in a 40:60 volumetric ratio. The black cation component allows visual monitoring of hydraulic separation during regeneration cycles, while the specially processed anion resin keeps effluent TOC values exceptionally low.
Three-Phase Deionization Process
Strong Acid Exchange
Black 16-50 mesh porous gel beads with sulfonic acid functional groups (-SO3H+) capture dissolved cations and exchange them for hydrogen ions. The 8% cross-linked polystyrene-DVB matrix provides 1.8 meq/mL minimum capacity with 49-55% moisture retention in H+ form.
Type I Base Exchange
White 16-50 mesh gel anion beads with quaternary ammonium functional groups (-N+(CH3)3OH-) remove dissolved anions and exchange them for hydroxyl ions. Delivers 1.2 meq/mL minimum capacity with 53-60% moisture retention in OH- form.
Ultra-Pure Effluent
Hydrogen and hydroxyl ions combine to form pure H2O molecules, stripping water of total dissolved solids. After 50 bed volumes of initial rinse (using >16 MΩ·cm feed water), effluent resistivity exceeds 18 megohms with minimal TOC leaching.

| pH Stability Range | 0–14 |
| Effluent Quality | >18 megohms (after 50 BV rinse with >16 MΩ·cm feed) |
Application Requirements
The MB-1USTD is designed for regenerable mixed-bed polishers in microelectronics semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical USP water systems, and high-pressure boiler feedwater treatment where ultra-low conductivity and minimal organic contamination are critical. Feed water should be pre-treated through reverse osmosis or two-bed deionization to extend service life and maintain effluent quality. The visual contrast between black cation and white anion beads allows operators to monitor hydraulic separation during backwash and regeneration cycles. Custom cation/anion ratios are available upon request for specific water chemistry profiles.
