Replacing Your Harmsco Sediment Filter
- Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure using the housing's pressure release button or valve
- Unscrew the Big Blue sump housing using a filter wrench, remove the old HB-20-20W cartridge, and clean the sump with mild soap and water
- Inspect and lubricate the o-ring, insert the new Harmsco HB-20-20W filter into the housing, and hand-tighten the sump until seated
- Turn water supply back on slowly, check for leaks around the housing seal, and run water for 2-3 minutes to flush the new filter
Works With Standard 20" Big Blue Systems
The Harmsco HB-20-20W fits all standard 20 inch Big Blue filter housings with 4.5" inner diameter, including Harmsco brand housings and most third-party equivalents. The 20 micron rating makes this filter ideal for sediment pre-filtration in whole-house systems, well water applications, and upstream protection for reverse osmosis membranes and carbon block filters. Replace every 6-12 months depending on sediment load and water quality.
