Pentek C1-20BB Technical Details
| Model Number | C1-20BB |
| Dimensions | 20" x 4.5" |
| Micron Rating | 5 micron (nominal) |
| Filter Media | PAC impregnated cellulose with polyester reinforcement |
| Flow Rate | 1 psi pressure drop at 10 GPM |
| Filter Life | 1000 gallons (typical residential use) |
| Temperature Range | 40°F to 145°F |
| Housing Compatibility | Standard 20" Big Blue housings |
Replacing Your C1-20BB Cartridge
- Shut off water supply and relieve pressure by opening a downstream faucet. Use a filter wrench to unscrew the Big Blue sump counterclockwise.
- Remove the old cartridge and discard. Clean the sump with warm soapy water, then inspect the O-ring for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
- Insert the new Pentek C1-20BB cartridge into the housing. Lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease and hand-tighten the sump clockwise until seated.
- Turn water supply on slowly and check for leaks. Run water for 2-3 minutes to flush carbon fines and purge air from the system.
Where the C1-20BB Fits
This filter fits any standard 20-inch Big Blue filter housing with 4.5" diameter capacity. It works well as a primary whole-house filter for municipal water or as a polishing stage after sediment pre-filtration in well water systems. The carbon-impregnated cellulose construction makes it ideal for applications requiring both particulate removal and taste/odor improvement, including residential point-of-entry systems, commercial process water, and closed-loop filtration. The polyester backing and external netting provide structural integrity under flow, reducing the risk of media migration.
