Pentek RFC20-BB Technical Details
| Model Number | RFC20-BB (155247-43) |
| Dimensions | 20" x 4.5" (4-5/8" OD x 20" length) |
| Micron Rating | 25 micron |
| Filter Media | Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) |
| Filter Capacity | 70,000 gallons |
| Pressure Drop | 0.9 psi @ 4 GPM |
| Temperature Range | 40°F to 180°F |
| Construction | 70-micron polyethylene shell, polypropylene core and end caps |
How to Install the RFC20-BB Filter
- Shut off water supply and relieve pressure from the filter housing by opening the pressure relief valve.
- Unscrew the 20" Big Blue housing sump, remove the old filter, and clean the housing interior and o-ring groove.
- Insert the RFC20-BB filter vertically into the housing, ensuring the open end faces up and the filter seats properly on the standpipe.
- Apply a thin layer of food-grade silicone grease to the o-ring, reseat the housing sump, and hand-tighten firmly.
- Slowly turn on water supply, check for leaks, and flush the filter for 3-5 minutes to purge air and prime the carbon bed.
Housing & Application Fit
The Pentek RFC20-BB is designed for use in standard 20" x 4.5" Big Blue filter housings from Pentek, Culligan, Aqua-Pure, and other manufacturers with compatible dimensions. This filter is ideal for whole-house water treatment, well water systems, and commercial applications requiring high flow rates with effective chlorine, taste, and odor reduction. The radial flow design minimizes carbon fines and pressure drop, making it a reliable choice for point-of-entry installations where sediment pre-filtration is already in place.
