PureT - HQCBC Series - 20" x 4.5" Coconut Carbon Block Filter
PureT HQCBC Series Technical Details
| Dimensions | 20" x 4.5" |
| Micron Ratings | 1, 5, or 10 micron |
| Filter Media | Acid-washed coconut shell activated carbon |
| End Caps & Wraps | Polypropylene with EVA adhesive |
| Gasket Material | Polyisoprene (natural rubber) |
| Temperature Range | 40°F - 125°F |
| Certifications | NSF-42 approved, FDA-compliant materials |
| Housing Compatibility | Standard 20" Big Blue filter housings |
Filter Replacement Process
- Turn off water supply and relieve system pressure by opening a downstream faucet
- Unscrew the Big Blue housing sump using a filter wrench and remove the spent cartridge
- Clean the housing interior and sump, inspect the o-ring for wear, and lubricate with food-grade silicone
- Insert the new PureT HQCBC carbon block filter and hand-tighten the sump until snug
- Turn water supply back on slowly and check for leaks, then flush the filter for 3-5 minutes before use
Application Range
The PureT HQCBC Series fits any standard 20" x 4.5" Big Blue filter housing and works across whole-house systems, commercial installations, well water treatment, point-of-use applications, and as pre-filtration for reverse osmosis systems. The solid carbon block structure eliminates the channeling and bypass issues inherent in loose granular carbon, making it ideal for applications requiring consistent chlorine reduction, VOC removal, and sediment filtration down to 1 micron. Choose micron rating based on water quality: 10 micron for general municipal water, 5 micron for moderate sediment loads, 1 micron for heavy particulate or well water with iron staining.
