Toray - TMH10A - 4" x 40"; 2400 GPD Brackish Water Extra Low Energy Replacement Reverse Osmosis Membrane

The Toray TMH10A (4" x 40") is a brackish water reverse osmosis membrane engineered to deliver 2400 GPD at significantly lower operating pressures than standard commercial membranes. This extra low energy design reduces pump requirements and operational costs while maintaining reliable filtration performance in municipal and light industrial applications.
SPECIFICATIONS

Toray TMH10A Technical Details

Model Number TMH10A
Dimensions 4" x 40"
Flow Rate 2400 gallons per day
Membrane Type Thin Film Composite (TFC) - Extra Low Energy
Application Brackish water, tap water
Maximum Pressure 365 psi (2.5 MPa)
Temperature Range Up to 113°F (45°C)
Replacement Interval 24 months (application-dependent)
INSTALLATION & USE

Installing the TMH10A Membrane

  1. Shut off feed water and depressurize the RO system completely before opening the membrane housing.
  2. Remove the old membrane element and inspect the housing for debris or scaling. Clean if necessary before installing the new TMH10A.
  3. Lubricate o-rings with clean water or food-grade silicone, then slide the TMH10A into the housing with brine seal facing the feed water inlet.
  4. Reassemble the housing, pressurize slowly, and flush the membrane for 30-60 minutes before putting into service.
  5. Monitor permeate quality and flow rate during the first 24-48 hours to confirm proper seating and performance.
COMPATIBILITY

Cross-Reference & System Fit

The Toray TMH10A is compatible with standard 4" x 40" commercial RO housings and serves as a direct replacement for the CSM RE4040-BLF membrane. This element operates within a continuous pH range of 2-11 and requires feed water with SDI15 below 5. Maximum feed chlorine must be non-detectable; install adequate pretreatment (sediment and carbon filtration) upstream to protect the membrane. Pressure drop should not exceed 20 psi per element or 60 psi per vessel.

🔧 Pro tip: Track normalized permeate flow and salt rejection monthly. A 10-15% decline from baseline indicates it's time for cleaning or replacement, even if you haven't hit the 24-month mark.
