Use the 5 micron option for general whole house sediment filtration as a first stage before carbon or specialty filters. Select the 1 micron version for finer particulate removal or as a polishing stage after coarser sediment filters. The string wound construction provides depth filtration with higher dirt-holding capacity than surface filters, making it ideal for well water, municipal water with high sediment, or any application requiring reliable particulate removal before RO systems, water softeners, or UV disinfection.
