Installing Your Pentek S1 Filter
- Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure by opening a downstream faucet before removing the filter housing sump.
- Remove the old cartridge and clean the housing interior with a mild bleach solution, rinsing thoroughly to remove any sediment buildup.
- Insert the Pentek S1 filter into the housing, ensuring the cartridge seats properly on the center standpipe and against the housing cap.
- Lubricate the housing o-ring with food-grade silicone grease, hand-tighten the sump, and slowly turn water back on to check for leaks.
- Flush the system for 3-5 minutes to purge air and any loose cellulose fibers from the new cartridge before normal use.
Where the S1 Fits
This 10" x 2.5" filter fits all standard 10-inch filter housings with 2.5-inch diameter capacity, including Pentek, Hydronix, and most major brands. It works as a sediment pre-filter for reverse osmosis systems, whole-house filtration setups, and light commercial applications where dirt, rust, and particulate reduction down to 20 microns is required. The pleated design offers greater surface area and longer service life compared to spun or wound sediment cartridges of the same micron rating.
