Two-Step Pipe Preparation
Measure Insertion Depth
Insert cut pipe into the appropriate size opening on the tool. The gauge marks the correct depth for SharkBite fittings from 1/4" through 1", ensuring the pipe will fully engage the internal grab ring.
Remove Inner and Outer Burrs
Rotate the tool around the pipe end to remove both internal and external burrs left from cutting. Clean edges prevent damage to the fitting's O-ring seal during insertion and reduce the risk of leak paths.
Install Push-to-Connect Fitting
With the pipe properly deburred and marked, push the SharkBite fitting straight onto the pipe until it reaches the depth mark. The fitting's stainless steel teeth grip the pipe while the O-ring creates a watertight seal.
