INSTALLATION & USE

Filter Replacement Procedure

  1. Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure by opening a downstream faucet or using the pressure relief valve on your housing.
  2. Unscrew the filter housing sump using a housing wrench, remove the spent cartridge, and inspect the o-ring for wear or damage.
  3. Clean the housing interior with mild soap and water, then insert the new Hytrex cartridge with the open end facing down (unless your housing specifies otherwise).
  4. Lubricate the o-ring with clean silicone grease, hand-tighten the sump, then restore water pressure and check for leaks.
  5. Flush the new cartridge for 3-5 minutes to purge any residual manufacturing fines before returning the system to service.
COMPATIBILITY

System Applications

This 30" x 2.5" Hytrex cartridge fits proprietary long-body housings designed for extended filter runs in oil and gas, industrial, and high-capacity residential applications. The graded density structure—with looser outer layers and tighter inner layers—maximizes dirt-holding capacity and prevents premature surface plugging. Wide chemical compatibility makes this filter suitable for use in pre-filtration for reverse osmosis systems, whole-house sediment removal, and hydrocarbon capture in upstream and downstream petroleum processing. Select micron rating based on your water quality: 20-75 micron for heavy sediment, 5-10 micron for general purpose, 1-3 micron for fine particulate and RO feed water protection.

🔧 Pro Tip: For RO pre-filtration, stack micron ratings—use a 5 or 10 micron Hytrex as your first stage, then a 1 micron cartridge as your final sediment barrier. This staged approach extends the life of your finer filter and protects the membrane from premature fouling.
