| Micron Ratings | 1, 5, 20, 75 micron |
| Construction | 100% pure polypropylene, thermally bonded meltblown |
| Filter Type | Graded-density depth filter (progressive filtration) |
| Applications | RO pretreatment, whole-house, chemical filtration, potable water |
| Chemical Compatibility | Broad compatibility with acids, bases, solvents (inert polypropylene) |
| Certifications | NSF 42/61, FDA 21CFR 177.1520, USP Class VI, ISO 9001, EU 1935/2004 |
Filter Cartridge Installation
- Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure by opening a downstream faucet or pressing the housing pressure relief button if equipped.
- Unscrew the filter housing sump using a housing wrench. Remove the old Purtrex cartridge and dispose of according to local regulations (filter incinerates to trace ash with no hazardous volatiles).
- Wipe the housing interior clean, inspect and lubricate the o-ring with food-grade silicone grease, then insert the new Purtrex cartridge with the open end facing up.
- Thread the sump back onto the housing cap hand-tight, then turn an additional quarter-turn with the wrench. Do not overtighten.
- Slowly open the water supply and check for leaks. Flush the new filter for 3-5 minutes before resuming normal use.
System Compatibility & Replacement
The SUEZ Purtrex 5" x 2.5" cartridge fits proprietary SUEZ (GE Osmonics, Veolia) filter housings designed for this compact length format. This size is not a standard 10" or 20" cartridge and requires a housing specifically rated for 5" x 2.5" filters. Purtrex filters are direct replacements for legacy GE Osmonics and Veolia-branded Purtrex depth filters in the same dimensions and micron rating. Choose your micron rating based on sediment load: 75 micron for heavy sediment, 20 micron for general whole-house use, 5 micron for RO pretreatment, and 1 micron for final polish or high-purity applications.
