Aries (AF-10-2212) 10" x 2.5" (2 lb) KDF-85-GAC Filter
Aries AF-10-2212 KDF-85/GAC Filter
The Aries AF-10-2212 combines 2 pounds of KDF-85 redox media with ResinTech coconut shell granular activated carbon in a 10-inch by 2.5-inch cartridge designed for standard filter housings. This dual-media approach targets iron, hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, and taste and odor issues while inhibiting bacterial growth inside the filter.
KDF-85 is a high-purity copper-zinc alloy that uses oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions to remove hydrogen sulfide and reduce iron from water. As water passes through the KDF media, it oxidizes dissolved iron and hydrogen sulfide, converting them into filterable particles. The granular activated carbon then provides a secondary stage of filtration, removing chlorine through adsorption and capturing organic compounds that cause taste and odor problems. KDF media is bacteriostatic, which means it inhibits microbial growth throughout the filter's service life and extends the functional capacity of the activated carbon by handling oxidizable contaminants first.
The AF-10-2212 fits any standard 10-inch filter housing with a 2.5-inch inner diameter, making it compatible with most residential and light commercial whole-house systems, reverse osmosis pretreatment setups, and point-of-use applications. This cartridge is particularly effective in well water systems where iron and hydrogen sulfide are present alongside chlorine or organic contaminants. Replace the filter when you notice a return of taste, odor, or discoloration, typically every 6 to 12 months depending on water quality and usage volume.
