Installing Your TW30-4040 Membrane
- Flush the RO housing thoroughly with clean water before inserting the membrane element to remove any manufacturing debris or contaminants.
- Lubricate the brine seal and o-rings with clean water or glycerin, then slide the Filmtec TW30-4040 membrane into the pressure vessel with the brine seal end facing the concentrate port.
- Install end caps per your housing manufacturer's instructions, ensuring proper seal compression to prevent bypass.
- Start system at low pressure and gradually increase to operating pressure over 30-60 seconds, then flush permeate to drain for the first 30 minutes of operation.
- Monitor initial permeate TDS and flow rate, allowing 24-48 hours for the membrane to fully stabilize before making performance adjustments.
System Requirements & Applications
The Filmtec TW30-4040 is designed for tap water and low-fouling municipal feed sources with SDI less than 5. Compatible with standard 4-inch commercial housings rated for up to 300 psi, this membrane works in single or dual-element configurations for restaurants, offices, light industrial, aquarium systems, and other commercial applications requiring high-purity water. Not recommended for high-fouling water, brackish well water with elevated TDS, or seawater applications without consulting Dow's technical guidelines. Individual element flow may vary ±20% from nominal specifications.
