Installing Your XLE-2540 Membrane
- Remove the membrane housing end cap and carefully slide out any existing membrane element, noting the flow direction indicator.
- Lubricate the new XLE-2540 membrane O-rings with clean water or compatible lubricant, then insert the membrane into the housing with the brine seal facing the feed water inlet.
- Hand-tighten the end cap, ensuring proper seal alignment, then slowly pressurize the system and check for leaks before running a full flush cycle (discard permeate for the first 30-60 minutes).
- Monitor initial permeate quality and flow rate, allowing 24-48 hours for the membrane to stabilize and reach specified performance levels.
System Requirements
The Filmtec XLE-2540 is designed for commercial tap water applications with 500 ppm TDS or less, operating at 100 psig feed pressure with 8% recovery. Compatible with standard 2.5" x 40" membrane housings used in light commercial and small-scale industrial RO systems. This low-energy membrane is ideal for applications where reducing operating pressure and energy consumption is a priority, delivering maximum productivity with minimal power requirements. Test conditions: 500 ppm NaCl, 77°F, 100 psig. Individual element flow rates may vary ±20% from nominal specifications.
