Filmtec XLE PRO 4040 Technical Data
| Model Number | XLE PRO 4040 |
| Dimensions | 4 inches x 40 inches |
| Permeate Flow Rate | 2,600 GPD (9.8 m³/d) |
| Active Surface Area | 87 ft² (8.1 m²) |
| Salt Rejection | 99.0% stabilized |
| Operating Pressure | 100 psig (6.9 bar) nominal |
| Test Conditions | 500 ppm NaCl, 77°F, 8% recovery |
| Cleaning pH Range | pH 1-13 |
Installing the XLE PRO 4040 Membrane
- Verify your membrane housing is designed for 4" x 40" elements and rated for at least 100 psig operating pressure before installation.
- Remove protective caps from the membrane and slide into housing with brine seal end first, ensuring the seal seats properly against the housing endcap.
- Flush the membrane at low pressure (less than 60 psig) for 30-60 minutes, discarding all permeate, before bringing system to full operating pressure.
- Monitor TDS readings during initial startup, as performance stabilizes over the first 24-48 hours of operation.
- Clean the membrane when normalized permeate flow decreases by 10% or normalized salt passage increases by 10%, using pH 1-13 compatible cleaning solutions as needed.
System Requirements
The Filmtec XLE PRO 4040 membrane is designed for commercial tap water applications and fits standard 4-inch diameter membrane housings with 40-inch length capacity. This low-energy element performs optimally with feed water containing up to 500 ppm TDS and is compatible with most commercial RO systems requiring one or two membrane elements per vessel. The tape-wrapped construction makes it ideal for smaller commercial installations where the cost savings over hard-shell elements provide better value. Individual element flow rates may vary +/-20% from nominal specifications.
