Cartridge and System Compatibility
The Harmsco BC6-2 housing accepts all Harmsco 20-inch cartridges including Hurricane series sediment filters, HIF series pleated polyester filters, carbon block cartridges, and specialty media cartridges. Compatible with Harmsco models HIF-20, HIF-40, HIF-60, HIF-80, Hurricane 1, Hurricane 5, Hurricane 10, Hurricane 20, Hurricane 40, Hurricane 80, and Hurricane 100. Requires 2" NPT connections. Maximum operating pressure 150 PSI, maximum temperature 150°F.
Cartridge Service Schedule
Sediment Pre-Filtration
Replace Hurricane or HIF sediment cartridges when pressure drop exceeds 15 PSI or sediment buildup reduces flow noticeably
Carbon Block Cartridges
Replace carbon cartridges based on taste, odor, or chlorine breakthrough, typically every 10,000-20,000 gallons depending on source water
Pleated Polyester Filters
Replace HIF pleated cartridges when differential pressure reaches 20 PSI or after extended service in low-sediment applications
